Design/Toolpath
Job Setup
- X-Y datum is CENTER of material
- orientation is along the Y axis
- calculate roughing and finishing cuts as normal
- 3D-raster at 90-degrees
- that way less rotation, more travel along the Y, should be faster
- when saving toolpaths select correct post-processor (e.g., “Axiom HHC CNC 4TH”)
- this is how the X axis motion is translated into A axis rotation
Material Prep
- rough to diameter + a couple mm
- mark center line on piece
- measure center end-to-end for finding XY=0
- to zero Z axis either
- touch-off puck Z to metal bed
- then +Z to 75mm and re-zero
- or create a 75mm block to use for Z-axis 0-ing
